Doctor (Mrs.) Margaret Elizabeth Nkrumah, you were born 65 years ago in Accra. You attended Penrhos College in the UK where you obtained the GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels Certificates. In 1963 you obtained a BA (Hons) degree in Literature and History at Leicester University also in the UK. You did not rest on your oars but proceeded to the University of Ghana, Legon where you graduated in 1993 with an MPhil degree in English Literature. Your dissertation was on “Creative Writing and the Nationalistic Sentiment in Pre-Independence Ghana”.
You have received training in Management, Supervision, Evaluation and Financial Control, and have attended numerous workshops on School Management. From 1996 - 1998 you participated in Management Workshops at Oxford University and Cambridge University in the UK.

With the knowledge acquired both at home and abroad making you a renowned Educationist, you did not limit your service in education to Ghana but served Africa and the rest of the world. You served the West African Examinations Council from 1963-1965 as an Assistant Registrar and Examiner for Literature. In Harare, Zimbabwe, from 1983-1990 you were an English teacher at Arundel School.  
In Ghana, you taught English Language at St. Mary’s Secondary School in Accra from 1970-1972 and at Ghana International School from 1973-1983 where you also served as an Assistant Headmistress. At SOS-Hermann Gmeiner International College, Tema, where you are currently the Principal, you taught English Language and served as Vice-Principal from 1990-1992.

 You have been a member of the International Baccalaureate Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland and served as a member of its Council of Foundation from 1996-2001. Further, you were the Chair of its Executive Committee from 1998-2001.  You have also been a member of the Heads Representative Committee and are currently a member of the Board of Directors of International Schools Association in Switzerland. You have been a member of the Board of Directors of the Council of International Schools in the UK; and from 1994 to date have been a member of the Board of Directors of SOS Children’s Village Association in Accra.
You were honored by the University of Leicester in 2005 with the Honorary Doctor of Law in recognition of your immense contribution to education in Africa. Currently, you are a member of the Association of International Schools in Africa (Kenya), International Schools Association (Switzerland), Council of International Schools (UK), European Council of International Schools (UK), National Association of Secondary School Principals (USA), National Association of Head Teachers (UK), Association of Secondary School Principals (USA), and the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development (USA). In Ghana, you are serving on the National Education Reform Implementation Committee.  

You have spoken at various conferences and workshops, and have been involved in organising three major conferences for SOS, International Schools Association and International Baccalaureate Organisation.
You have an abiding interest in Education in Africa, a passionate interest in Gender issues, and a keen interest in Political Debates and Polemic Writing. In spite of your busy schedule, you find time for reading, Crosswords, Gardening, and Music.
