Professor Leslie Irwin you were born on             at                 .  After your High School Education, you pursued the Bachelor of Psychology and Biology programme at the University of Wisconsin in the United States of America in 1972; and obtained the B.Ed, Teacher Education, and the Diploma, Elementary Special Education, concurrently at the University of Ottawa Ontario, Canada, in 1976.
You began your illustrious career at the Carleton Board of Education, Napean, Ontario, Canada, as a substitute Teacher (Elementary level) between 1976 and 1978.


Your keen desire for knowledge urged you to complete M.Ed Psychopedagogy (Ed. Psychology) in 1978 at the University of Ottawa Ontario, also in Canada.
You subsequently obtained the Doctorate in Education Curriculum and Instruction at the Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, United States of America in 1988.


Professor Leslie Irwin, you are a member of various professional associations.  These include the International Association for Intercultural Education in the Netherlands, the National Association for Multicultural Educators in the United States of America, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development in United States of America.


In addition to your dedicated service as a teacher, you were an Advisor to the African-American Students’ Association/Black Students’ Union in 1997 to 2000, and later an Examiner in the Second Language Oral Proficiency Examination for an African student in the Department of Languages and Literature at Arizona State University (ASU) in spring 2005.
You have served as Senator, Editor, Facilitator, Mentor, Evaluator, Panel Moderator and represented your institution on various committees.

Professor Leslie Irwin you have authored several books and contributed chapters to books.  You have over eighteen (18) publications and twenty-two (22) conference papers to your credit.


Professor Leslie Irwin, you have received several local and international awards in recognition of your work and general service to humanity.  In 1991 you received the Gold Service Pin from the Council of School Representative, Alberta Teachers’ (Local 38) Association, Canada.  In 1992 the Teachers’ Association of Malawi awarded you a certificate of Appreciation.  You also won a plaque for outstanding service and dedication to students, as well as a plaque for distinguished commitment to Diversity both at ASU West in 1999.
