Achievements
- PEDAGOGICAL INNOVATIONS DESIGNED FOR UEW
- 1. Learning to teach Chemistry
- This is a newly designed pedagogical course that provides young inexperienced chemistry teacher-trainees with basic pedagogical and reflective skills in teaching chemistry in their first year.
- 2. Individual and Group Teaching
- This session allows students to apply their theoretical philosophies and frameworks to real problems faced by chemistry teachers
- 3. Computer-based (hybrid online) Teaching
- This empowers students, affords them the opportunity to communicate with their teacher online at designated periods anywhere that they may be (outside the formal classroom setting) and provides them with varied tasks that are often inquiry-based.
- 4. Micro Science Teaching/Activities
- The use of Micro Science equipment in teaching Science, especially Chemistry, is a main core topic in PSC 122C, where trainees learn to use the micro equipment in activities and design their own activities which require its use for topics assigned them.
- AREAS OF SPECIALISATION AND INTEREST
- 1. Environmental and Analytical Chemistry
- 2. Chemical Toxicity Studies
- 3. The Effect of Pesticides and Food Additives on Organisms
- 4. Environmental issues concerning Women and Children
- 5. Enhancing Conceptual Understanding of Chemistry at the Undergraduate level
- 6. Students’ Misconceptions in Physical, Environmental, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry
- 7. Online Courseware Development and Facilitation
